Tim You almost had me there with your logic. If the bible doesn't describe it in detail it must not exist. The Bible says “do not gossip”, it does not give a definition of gossip so using your logic gossip is only in the eyes of the beholder and we can do it if we don’t call it gossip. The Bible clearly shows the magicians of the time had power, turned rods into a snake, water into blood, and etc, all without preparation time so it wasn't a staged act. God always had a way of letting us know what He considered important. The Bible clearly tells us to stay away from magic, witchcraft, divining spirits, sorcery. Those are clearly defined terms. There are even more defined if we go back to the original language. However the point I making here is the Bible doesn’t say watch you will get tricked by these, or don’t let them mislead you, or there is no power here. It clearly says stay away. We see the witch of Endor summon a spirit, it is not called a false apparition but rather a spirit. To me that is enough to convince me Satan has power and will allow those that chose to align themselves with him to use that power. EdB |

EdB: You write: "Isn't 'STAY AWAY from witchcraft' sufficient?" "I think this is a little different than murder witchcraft is witchcraft. God never said it didn't exist He said STAY AWAY from it." "The Bible clearly tells us to STAY AWAY from magic, witchcraft, divining spirits, sorcery." (Emphasis added.) Deuteronomy 18: 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who *PRACTICES* witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For all who *DO* these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. (Emphasis added. New King James Version.) Ed, my respected brother, it is not my purpose here to criticize you. Nor am I taking sides in your ongoing debate. I merely wish to point out that IN THE LAW it does not say "STAY AWAY FROM" magic, etc. What it clearly says in Deuteronomy 18 is that "all who *DO* these things are an abomination to the Lord." It also prohibits "one who *PRACTICES* witchcraft" (emphasis added). It may be that somewhere in the Bible it does use the words "stay away from" these things. However, I am not familiar with any such passage. Grace to you, Kalos |

Kalos Your absolutely right as far as I know the words stay away are not there in reference to magic or witchcraft. But I can't spell and I felt safer using stay away than abomination (I copied it from you response :-)) To the letter of the law your right but to me when God says somethng is an abomination that means stay away. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused. I will either learn to spell or stay away from any discussions that require big words :-) Love you my brother Be Blessed and be a Blessing EdB |
