Hi, Samantha... What I meant is that the passages you offered are not conclusive in telling us that angels sing. We have made cultural assumptions about those verses that are not born out by the text itself. In addition, I cannot find any Scriptural evidence that angels sing at all. We find them learning, thinking, acting, obeying, speaking, praising, etc. But I do not find a single verse that actually records their having any musical ability at all. Just speculating here, but wouldn't it be awesome if singing were an activity reserved to the family of God alone? In Him, Doc |

Zephaniah 3:17 For the LORD your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will exult over you by singing a happy song." Isn't this awesome? If God sings, and we sing, why not speculate that angels sing? Maybe there is no actual biblical proof, but music is usually tied with such emotion that it wouldn't be wrong to imagine angels singing. or would it? I mean, most often music and worship go hand and hand! |

Hi, Samantha... I've always cherished that passage. Boggles the mind actually! Yes, it is possible that angels sing. Still, imagine the possibility that singing is an attribute of our being that stems from His image! Furthermore, angels can never quite grasp redemption (1 Peter 1:12). God made no provision of redemption for the fallen angels, but brought immediate judgement upon them (2 Peter 2:4). As a consequence, the redeemed will make songs of praise to the glory of God unimaginable by such other beings. Nonetheless, it is, as we have said, speculative. Therefore, we can put little stock in such ideas. Where the Bible is silent, really, we must be also. Exciting, though, whatever awaits us! :-) In Him, Doc |
