Greetings again, "The Bible is Right!" (I like your Username!) Here is a bit of explanation for James 3:1... "..Because a teacher has great influence, he will be held more accountable (see Luke 20:47; cf. Matt. 23:1-33)." (1) "3:1 teachers. Since teachers use their tongues (to instruct others) more, they will be judged more strictly." (2) "3:1-18: True wisdom. Two besetting sins of the teacher are rebuked: intemperate speech (vv. 1-12) and arrogance (vv. 13-18)." (3) "..stricter judgment. The word translated "judgment" usually expresses a negative verdict in the NT, and here refers to a future judgment: 1) for the unbelieving false teacher, at the second coming (Jude 14,15); and 2) for the believer, when he is rewarded before Christ (1 Cor. 4:3-5). This is not meant to discourage true teachers, but to warn the prospective teacher of the role's seriousness (cf. Ezekiel 3:17,18; 33:7-9; Acts 20:26,27; Heb. 13:17)." (4) Basically, teachers are under a stricter judgment because of the greater influence that they have. The passages cited from Ezekiel are pretty vivid here. 4 | How can we know if a teacher is teaching | James 3:1 | Makarios | 55326 | ||
Question: "How can we know if a teacher is teaching what is right according to God's will or not?" Answer: Acts 17:11 "Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." The Bereans tested everything that Paul said against Scripture, and "many of them believed" (v. 12) as a result of Paul's teaching. Blessings to you, Makarios |

The Bible is Right You said, “But today if you questioned a teacher of the word of God, they say you are judging them, Matt 7:1-2 and most get offended.” I would find another teacher!!! Look at Paul’s reaction when the Berean’s checked him out Acts 17:11, He commended them Acts 17:11! Any true teacher should encourage his students to check him out. Teachers that hide behind scripture to keep you from checking them out have something to hide. Now if you find something wrong with their teaching I think you need to go to them in private and let them set the record straight. No one wants or likes to be corrected publicly . Also the teacher is scripture twisting if he is saying Matt 7:1-2 says do not judge. It is saying to not judge hypocritically or in other words make sure you judge others with the same standard you want to be judged by. Also we are not to judge whether a person is truly saved or not. Only God know the heart. God has certainly called us to judge teaching, the scriptures tell us in the last days there will be many false teachers. God also has given us the gift of discernment, that many refuse to use, to do just that, to judge what we are being told. Never buy “I’m right and don’t you question me” because that person is going to lead you astray. EdB |
