1 | Does Jude 1:17 answer Eph 4:11? | Eph 4:11 | Ray | 1805
Dear RCSCROLL, charis, and JVH, I just now read of RC's comment about the past tense in Jude 17, and charis I agree that it's past tense in Ephesians 4:ll 'And He gave some apostles, some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. Past tense, He gave some. Past tense, "words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ." Everything is in place already in the eyes of Jude. You have all the information, revelation, knowledge of the Son of God. You're well equipped with the word of God. JVH, I'm sure you will be happy to know that there is a direct correlation between Jude 17 and Eph.3:ll using my capitalization system. It also points to Ephesians 2:18 "for through Him we both have our access in one (Spirit) to the Father. Ephesians 2:20 has a tense which I need to study to find out, but it too is in a past tense of having been built on a foundation but now we're growing. |

2 | Does Jude 1:17 answer Eph 4:11? | Eph 4:11 | Ray | 37730
Hi Ray, Here it is almost a year later, and you're still talking to yourself. I'm told that's all right unless you start answering yourself. :) Actually, I'm writing this because Jh2 wrote a post for this thread yesterday and there is still interest in it. I would like to correct a typo that I made and talk about the compared verses. I should have written Ephesian 4:ll in its second use in the post. The suggested verses for comparison were Eph 4:ll and Jude 17. Actually, today I would like to look at Eph 4:12 and Jude 19. Ephesians 4:12, "for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the BUILDING UP of the body of Christ;..." All caps are for comparison. Jude 19, "These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, BUILDING YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith; praying in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God,..." The comparison is one of contrast between those who would cause divisions and those who would build up the believers. The comparison is one of knowledge of the Son of God and praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying for the will of God; for the keeping of ourselves in the love of God and the speaking of the truth in love. From the heart, Ray |
