Tim will be notified, and will respond if he so chooses. This is a public forum, Bill, therefore, when you post to this forum, anyone has the right to respond to any post they wish to, as long as there posts are biblically based and do not violate the (Terms Of Use). Which by the way, you don't seem to respect. Please refresh yourself with these rules and the terms you agreed to when you singed up, and abide by them before you continue to post. And yes, Bill, this is a Christian forum: so why don't you act like a Christian and follow the rules set down by our gracious host? The Lockman Foundation. John p.s. I don't think you will be "asked" to leave. |

Yes, John, I realize that anyone can respond. I welcome the interaction. Why do you say that I don't respect the Terms of Use? I've read them. I am not trolling or spamming in any way. How do I violate the rules here? Please show me. | ||||||

Well Bill, Tim has already shown you this rule in the Terms Of Use in his post to you, post number 214020 wherein it says: "This is a Bible study forum. One of the terms of use that you agreed to when you registered is as follows: "Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ." If you don't agree with this position, this is not the forum for you my friend!" Your response to Tim was only that you agreed to the deity of Jesus Christ. You got the last part of the sentence in the TOU but it seems conveniently overlooked the first. i.e. "Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura)" John |

I'm not "conveniently overlooking" anything. I stated that my posts are biblically based upon the teachings of Jesus, which, I believe, lead us to love God and one another more. It seems this is a point of contention here. It seems that, for the purposes of this forum, "sola scriptura" means that Moses has as much authority over the Christian as Christ does. It seems that Joshua is on the same level as Jesus as also has "all authority in heaven and on earth." It seems that Isaiah is just as "fully of grace and truth" as Jesus Christ. It seems that Paul is just as much "the very image of God" as Jesus. Why? Because this forum interprets "sola scriptura" to mean that everyone and everthing taught in the Bible stands on equal ground with Jesus Christ himself. This is the problem with man-made doctrines. They start out exhorting us to get back to basics but, in the hands of religion, get turned into idols. I don't have a problem with "sola scriptura." In fact, if folks here would bother to look up the definition, they would discover that it allows for reason, logic, and tradtion in being faithful to the Bible. But this forum uses it to mean "You must believe EXACTLY as we do." If this is how the Lockman Foundation interprets "sola scriptura", that everything in the Bible is binding upon the Christian and that Jesus Christ and his teachings stand on exactly the same ground as Moses, Joshua, and Job, then, yes, I will depart. I had hoped this was a place to discuss the Bible in the light of Jesus Christ, not a place where the Bible is placed on higher authority than what he has. Nevertheless, I wish ALL of you the best in Christ and hope that you grow in the grace of our Lord. bill |
