What is the difference, Tim? Here is a verse from the book of Leviticus: 'You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.' - Lev 19:19 In this verse, God says not to plant two different kinds of plants in a field. He also says not to wear a garment that has been made from two different kinds of materials (blends). How would you explain to someone that this verse is authoritative for you (that this verse demonstrates God's authority over how you plant and how you dress) but that it is NOT applicable to you (despite the authority of the verse, it doesn't apply to you)? I'm not trying to be contentious, Tim. I really want to know. How can you assert that this verse is authoritative over you but that it doesn't apply to you? If this verse is authoritative over you concerning planting and garments, shouldn't it, by definition, apply to you? If not, why not? |

Dear Bill... We do not base our understanding of Scripture on one verse; But on the entire counsel of Scripture. If our theology doesn't line up, then we do not trow out parts of Scripture, but instead we adjust our understanding to fit what the whole Bible teaches and not just on what part of it teaches. 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; John |

You haven't addressed my question, Tim. This verse from Leviticus, which you consider to be authoritative for you, says not to plant crops of two different kinds in a field and not to wear garments of two differnt kinds. How is this verse authoritative for you? | ||||||
