1 | not in the flesh? | Rom 8:9 | Ray | 111928
Hi Thomas8, CDBJ has given you a good Scripture to answer your question. 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man is in (Christ), he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come." Romans 8:11, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His (Spirit) who indwells you. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--" 1 Corinthians 15:50, "Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of (God); nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable." Romans 8:16, "...we are children of (God)." 2 Corinthians 5:20, "...we are ambassadors for (Christ)." Galatians 5:24, "Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." The parentheses are mine for comparisons of the Scriptures. I hope they help. From the heart, Ray |

2 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | Pastor Glenn | 153409
I like Ray's comments in this old thread. I have a new question: Is it more important to be filled with the Holy Spirit, or to walk in our spirit nature, or both? Romans 8 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

3 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | DocTrinsograce | 153426
Dear Pastor Glenn, Scripture does instruct us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. However, I do not recall being told to walk in "our spirit nature." Indeed, I was unaware that we have a "spirit nature." Where might one find the Biblical basis for humans having a "spirit nature?" In Him, Doc |

4 | filled Holy Spirit, or to walk in spirit | Rom 8:9 | Ray | 153437
Hi Doc, 1) Ezekiel 18:29, "But the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not right.' Are (My) ways not right, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not right? 30...31 "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel?" 2) Ezekiel 36:26, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put My (s)Spirit within you and cause you to walk in (My) statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances." Ephesians 3:20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond what we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to (Him) be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Romans 8:15, NASB, "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of (God)." The parentheses are mine for comparison and for Pastor Glenn's benefit who might find them of interest here. From the heart, Ray |
