1 | do unbelievers go to Heaven? | Rom 1:20 | BradK | 212440
Hello bpeteren5, Welcome to the Forum! In answer to your question, no! The Gospel excludes those who are "unbelievers". John 3:36 says, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (NASB) Paul's whole argument (the doctrine of condemnation)reagrding the fate of non-believers is found in Rom. 1:18-3:24. The whole world stands guilty before a just and holy God! Note particularly, verses 1:20 and 3:19- Rom 1:20- "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." Rom 3:19- "Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;" As this question has been asked several times, you may also find further insight by using the "Search" function box to the upper right. I hope this helps. BradK |

2 | salvation for unbelievers? | Rom 1:20 | bpetersen5 | 212443
several ministers thru the years have told me that God and the scriptures made provision for those who never had the chance to hear the good news (see original question) but I never asked them WHERE in the bible this was found. Romans 8:38,9 seems to speak to this. Certainly God wouldn't condemn a child in China who has never had the opportunity to be exposed to religion to a life in Hell just because of the place of his birth,or would HE?
3 | salvation for unbelievers? | Rom 1:20 | MJH | 212444
The question you ask is a large debate in the Christian community. You will find from the extreme Universalism that everyone who lives will eventually be in heaven all the way to the extreme dogmatic who believes that anyone not in their denomination will not go to heaven. The Scriptures deal with how mankind can draw near to a Holy God. They generally do not deal with this hypothetical question straight on. One comes to conclusions based on inferences. One thing we can be certain of is that God is holy AND just and will deal with each person according to His character and purpose. Why does this specific question interest you at this time? MJH |

Pray for your atheist friend that God would change his heart and reveal the gospel to him. Let God work in his heart. Meanwhile study the scriptures for yourself and let your life be an example to your friend as you obey God and love Him. - Val
