AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 1:20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. [Ps 19:1-4; Eph 2:10] |
Bible Question: several ministers thru the years have told me that God and the scriptures made provision for those who never had the chance to hear the good news (see original question) but I never asked them WHERE in the bible this was found. Romans 8:38,9 seems to speak to this. Certainly God wouldn't condemn a child in China who has never had the opportunity to be exposed to religion to a life in Hell just because of the place of his birth,or would HE? |
Bible Answer: Hello bpetersen5, Rom. 8:38-39 is addressing believers (go back to 8:29-30). I'm not aware of any "provision" for those who "never had the chance to hear the good news". Again, refer to Rom. 1:18-20. God HAS made provision: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." (NASB) We must remember that God is the just and justifier, Rom. 3:26. He is Sovereign (Ps. 115:3), but also His righteousness is an everlasting rightouesness (Ps. 97:2; 119:142). Read Rom. 9:6-33. Particularly pay attention to 9:14-16, "What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! For He says to Moses, "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy." (NASB) In Eph. 2:3, Paul addresses our old condition- the state of the non-believer- dead to God: "Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest." (NASB) We are condemned because we are sinners by nature. There are NONE of us who do good. Not even one! That is what condemns us. Not our place of birth!
