Enter Luke 1:41 under Translation Book Chapter:verse ... to see both Luke 1:41 or 67 Since the Bible doesn't say what Simon "saw" (not "heard") in Acts 8:18, I will not guess. I'd say it would be hard to say He saw them speak in tongues. I think Dr. Luke would have been inspired to write "heard". Steve |

2 | Being filled w/ the Spirit mean tongues? | Acts 2:4 | prayon | 148613 | ||
The bible says Simon "saw". We know that the Holy Spirit can not be seen with the physical eye since He is a Spirit. But he "saw" or witnessed the power of speaking in tongues If we look at Acts 19:6. (And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied)and Acts 22:4 (And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance) we know that with the laying on of hands and the receiving of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost) that they spoke in tongues. So what Simon "saw" was the evidence of the Holy Spirit which is speaking in tongues. prayon ps I agree it would of been much easier if he would of used the word heard instead of saw.... |
