Hi, "Baptism to anyone who believed in Jesus: Jews, the God-fearing, pagans.[27] Always, Baptism is seen as connected with faith: "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household," St. Paul declared to his jailer in Philippi. And the narrative continues, the jailer "was baptized at once, with all his family."[28]" This is what you believe? This is what I believe too. It is connected to faith is reason infants not appropriate to receive it. The faith of daddy, though it is impotant to rearing the child, does not substitute until they reach maturity. I do not think this: "Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),[4] and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." Access to other sacraments? Does that mean no marriage if not baptized? got to go. |

imuvhim, I did not necessarily expect you to agree with me, I was just making it clear what I believed. As for your question: " do not think this: "Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),[4] and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." Access to other sacraments? Does that mean no marriage if not baptized?" Yes, but why would one even consider matrimony a sacrament and want to be a party to it if they do not even believe in the sacrament of baptism? There is always the Justice of the Peace or plenty of others who would be willing to perform the ceremony. |

I agree that a man and woman who don't believe in Jesus should not expect that the preacher perform a wedding for them. But it is traditional. But I am glad that it is still a true marriage even if they are not a believer. No matter if they are married by priest or pastor or JOP. Agree? | ||||||
