1 | Could this be right? | Acts 2:38 | Searcher56 | 79382
Disciplerami, You said, "Faith is not a saving faith without obedience (Romans 1:5; 15:18; 16:26)" Tim replied, "The three verses you mention all refer to an 'obedience of faith', but none of them say that salvation results from obedience." Then you posted this, quoting James 2:14. So is Tim correct, or do you have a reply? --------- On James 2:14 read posts 97 28754 54624 58184 58185 and its thread. A key word in this verse is "says" Searcher |

2 | Could this be right? | Acts 2:38 | disciplerami | 79394
Searcher, I'm sorry that you and Tim missed the very important point that Faith IS obedient. A non-working faith called "FAITH ALONE" is unbiblical and cannot save. Disciplerami |

3 | Could this be right? | Acts 2:38 | Searcher56 | 79408
Disciplerami, As I illustrated before and that you added to ... we do get a new heart, for free. No works involved. That heart saves. The new heart gave us new life. Before we got the heart, we were in bed, unable to anything ... without the heart, we would have died. We could go back to bed and stay there ... but, I believe we would soon die (need a medical opinion). Now works comes in ... we need to show that we have a new heart. We get up an exercise our new heart. But, our working out our heart (shoveling three feet plus of snow last week) didn't save us, receiving it did. Enjoy your snow, I get to shovel this week again. Searcher PS I am still trying to improve on this illustration, so it is clearer. |

4 | Could this be right? | Acts 2:38 | Ray | 79441
Hi Searcher56, When you mentioned a new heart, I started to look at heart in my concordance and my eyes rested on Acts 16:14. I wonder what you think of this interpretation through capitalization of pronouns of Deity. This is just "penciled in" so far. Acts 16:17, "Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "These men are bond-servants of the Most/High God, who are proclaiming to you the *(Way) of salvation." Perhaps we can ask disciplerami if that is not the (God) that we are desirous of leading people to. Disciplerami, talk to us, don't leave us too soon. From the heart, Ray |
