1 | Could this be right? | Acts 2:38 | Morant61 | 79313
Greetings Disciplerami! So, what is the question? Personally, I would say that all of these verses refer to water baptism except for Gal. 3:27. It would be quite striking if Paul would list some other 'work' that one must do to be saved in a book where he is arguing against the need of another 'work' to be saved! ;-) What I would question is your interpretation of these verses to mean that one must be baptized to be saved. Tim, I wonder why you insist on misunderstanding. I hope that you don't do it on purpose. No one has ever suggested that the saving power is in the work. We all agree on where the saving power is. However, God does require obedience to his word, commands, gospel. This appears to be where the disagreement really is. God bless |

Sniper ... None of these verses say we must obey to be saved 2 The 1:8 - who do not know God and to those who do not obey John 3:36 - contrasts (key word "but") he who believes in the Son with he who does not obey the Son Heb 5:9 - is about Jesus Christ (4:8-5:10) John 14:23 - love is the evidence of faith, like works (Jas 2:14-26). 6 | No obedience necessary? | Acts 2:38 | sniper | 79418
Searcher, I honestly don't even think your post deserves a response. You can't be serious, but I am going to pose this question to the forum. In fact, since once again a valuable discussion (which may have been in danger of convincing some) has been removed from the main page, I feel as though I am safe in telling you that you are being dishonest with your interpretation. To pick just one of the verses I quoted, does 2 Thess 1:8 (dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.) mean that we dont have to obey to be saved? In looking back to verse 7, what does it mean to have Jesus revealed in flaming fire dealing out retribution to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus? I hope you really are searching.
