1 | Why include "even" in John 1:12 | John 1:12 | Ray | 48723
Hi Colin, Perhaps the verse could read something like this; "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to be children of God, (even giving this right)to those who would come to believe in His name." We, the believers of today believe that He was God in the flesh and recognize that the authority that He had was from God. Jesus was born of God and became flesh and dwelt among them and they beheld His glory. That is, His Spiritual glory. John 1:11, He came to His own, His spiritual children. But those who were His own, His own brethren, and the Jews and religious leaders, did not receive Him. But as many as received Him as their Spiritual Leader, so to speak, to them He gave the right to be children of God, for they believed in His authority. From the heart, Ray |

Thanks, Ray. I see you checked out my strings from the quesion on John 7:8. I've settled this question in my mind, also along the lines you illustrate. Colin
