1 | Word or word? | Luke 8:15 | Ray | 111866
It is said that Jesus and the Word are synonymous. I would agree if one is talking about the Jesus and the Son. The problem comes when we capitalize the Word of God, the Holy Bible. Then we have a misunderstanding between the Word, Jesus, and the word of God, the Bible. In the verse for this thread we can see the problem by comparing the NASB with the Amplified version. Question: For Luke 8:11 is the parable talking about the Scriptures or about the Son of God? Luke 8:11, "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God." From the heart, Ray |

2 | Word or word? | Luke 8:15 | kalos | 111868
Ray writes: "The problem comes when we capitalize..." Yes, yes, yes! Now you've got it. That's exactly when the problem comes -- when we take it upon ourselves to capitalize in an effort to clarify or improve upon the original text. Ray: I don't believe it is necessary to use capitalization to show whether this verse is talking about the written Word of God or the Son of God. Since the Greek text does not differentiate between capitalized and uncapitalized words, we must rely, not on capitalization, but upon context, as well as the other normal rules (principles) of interpretation, to interpet a Bible verse. 4 | Written word and incarnate Word.Yes? | Luke 8:15 | Emmaus | 111894
Ray, I think the word of God in Luke 8:15 is the good news of the Gospel and the Word of God Incarnate is Jesus. The written word of Scripture is not the same as the Incarnate Word, Jesus, although we can and do encounter the Word of God in the word of God. "God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world" Hebrew 1:1-2 That is how I see it.
