1 | Do you believe once save, always saved. | Luke 23:43 | Tuggy | 95183
Let's see what the Bible says: Ezekiel 18:24 - "But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die." 2 Peter 2:20-22 - "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." Not only are we to "come" to Jesus for the free gift of salvation (Revelation 22:17); we must also "abide" in Him (John 15:4), after we have come. We must die daily (1 Corinthians 15:31), deny ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23). Otherwise, the Christian will soon grow cold and be overcome by sin. And "if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sin" (Hebrews 10:26). |

3 | Do you believe once save, always saved. | Luke 23:43 | Hank | 95197
Well, yes it is, Makarios. It's one point of view all right. How valid is it? Perfectly fine, I suppose -- if one is willing to accept the construction of a vital doctrine from a handful of verses quoted out of context and interpreted by using eisegesis. --Hank
4 | Do you believe once save, always saved. | Luke 23:43 | Makarios | 95208
Greetings my friend, I most certainly agree! Perfectly fine, handful of verses, quoted and spoken out of context, and interpreted using eisegesis, not exegesis.. :-) As you and I both know, its simply amazing when we take the Bible for what it says! :-) But I have seen Tim Moran provide a much better defense for this point of view, which also can be found in the Archives. Blessings to you, Makarios |
