1 | Do you believe once save, always saved. | Luke 23:43 | jg8ball | 338
No. If that were true, why would we be warned against temptations?

We are warned against temptation in our walk with Christ, which is upward and holy,as we unlearn a lifetime of filth and sin. Our salvation is assured by the promise of Christ in Jn10:28 [and I give eternal life to them; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.]A debate may arise on the issue of a true salvation experience, but no debate can arise on the permanence or eternal value of salvation. It certainly isn't an out so that we can continue in sin without fear or regard for the consequences, as there is always a consequence for sin. But if we believe that He chose us, then we believe that He sealed us, and that no one, not even ourselves, can snatch us out of His hand.
3 | Do you believe once save, always saved. | Luke 23:43 | Hank | 4207
Your answer is a fine one, well stated. I think much of the misunderstanding regarding the teaching on the eternal security of the believer stems from a misunderstanding of what grace really is, an outpouring of God's "agape" love that is unconditional and has nothing whatever to do with our good works. But at the same time we are not exempted from walking in the same manner as Christ walked (1 John 2:6) nor from making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). We are not to continue in sin so that grace may increase (Romans 6:1). Clearly the Bible teaches that we are not to accept the generous offer of salvation by grace through faith and be done with it. Dietrich Bonhoeffer calls this "cheap grace." --Hank

Thanks for your comments. I agree with you that we don't want to flaunt or cheapen the grace of God. Thanks be to God that we (I) are works in progress, and that we can boldy approach the throne of His grace daily for cleansing and strength. David
