1 | What purpose does The Holy Spirit serve? | Luke 11:13 | tj57h@cs.com | 88940
I asked BradK this question because of his answer as to why the Son who is born again asked for the Holy Spirit. Did you read his response to my original post? I believe his position is that we already have the Holy Spirit when we become born again and I wanted to know why the son was asking for the Holy Spirit if he already had it. Love, Tim |

2 | What purpose does The Holy Spirit serve? | Luke 11:13 | Ray | 147770
Hi tj57h@cs.com, Tim, Many in this thread are speaking of the Holy Spirit as an "it" and a helper. I would say that the Holy Spirit is a Person and the holy spirit is an it. I see the Holy Spirit as the Giver and the holy spirit as the gift. So for Luke 11:13 when it speaks of good gifts I believe that it speaks of gifts of holy spirit. The Father in heaven (who is Spirit) will give good gifts to those who ask Him. I am not saying that the Son and Holy Spirit are not Gifts. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 4:10, "Jesus answered and said to her, 'If you knew the gift of God, and who it [He] is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." John 14:16, "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever." Those Scriptures speak of the Son and the Spirit as Gifts. But I am asking people to consider the possibility of the gift of the holy spirit. John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, but that which is born of the *spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' [Or, from above]." From the heart, Ray |
