1 | The Blind leading the blind | Mark 8:18 | Val | 210771
Because Jesus was no ordinary man. He was and is God. He could see people's minds and hearts and know what their true motive and spirit was. He saw the corruptness of the individual Pharisees He encountered therefore He spoke from this knowledge. The Pharisees and Sadducees were wrong about just about everything. They were of their father, the devil. This is a warning to us in that we are not to put man on a pedestal and deify him. We are to serve God and God alone.
2 | The Blind leading the blind | Mark 8:18 | daverobertsjr | 210787
Dear Val, You say the Pharisees were wrong about just about everything. If they were wrong about washing hands and they were wrong about changing God's command of death to a rebellious child, them are we just as wrong, hypocritical and blind as the Pharisees? Everybody knows we as modern Christians believe in washing of hands and the abandonment of the death penalty. If Jesus is teaching us a lesson here, what is he trying to say? In reality, we are doing exactly as the Pharisees did. Dave Dave |

3 | The Blind leading the blind | Mark 8:18 | Val | 210792
Hello Dave, That depends. Are you trying to be saved by keeping a list of rules? Or are you trusting in Christ and Christ's finished work on the cross for your salvation. Do you mix grace with the law? Are you saved by grace but kept by the law? What is in a person's heart is revealed outwardly. If one likes the approval of man, likes recognition, likes to be seen and heard by others who is that person pleasing? Self or Christ. That is why these Pharisees, the unbelieving Pharisees were condemned. They cared more about their position and status than about the Christ who came to set them free from the power of sin. What I am talking about Dave is grace. Grace alone. Grace that paid a debt He did not owe to save a people who owed a debt they could not pay. Grace Alone, grace alone, grace alone. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. He died on a cross, He was raised from the dead, He ascended to heaven. He sits at the right hand of God. He is our great High Priest. He intercedes for us. He is more wonderful than all the words there are to express what He did for us. I urge all who read this to believe on Christ. Depend on Christ. Serve Him with all your heart. Obey Him. Love Him. It was their hearts that were wrong. Their hearts were cold as stone. Jesus saw their hearts. He saw what they were thinking. Read the whole story over and over again. Read the four gospels over and over again and you will understand them, the Pharisees and Christ my Saviour. Blessings, Val |

4 | The Blind leading the blind | Mark 8:18 | daverobertsjr | 210794
Dear Val, If Jesus was trying to reveal the faults of the proud and self serving Pharisees, as you say their hearts were wrong, what was wrong with them continuing the God given tradition of washings hands before eating bread? And what was wrong with the Pharisees changing God's outdated death command to a rebellious child? Dave |
