1 | eat what you will? Mark 7:19 | Mark 7:19 | Face | 176161 | ||
considering the context in which this passage was given, it would appear to me that all FOODS were declared clean. According to the law given to Moses, unclean meats were NOT food, but an abomination. In the context of the custom of handwashing immediately before food (this custom still exists to this day), Yah'shua wasn't declaring all that entered the mouth food, he was declaring that eating without the ceremonial handwashing didn't defile what was already acceptable food. Similarly, when Peter had the vision of unclean animals in the sheet, it was interesting to note that even at that point, he didn't seem to think that Yah'shua had declared all animals clean. Even after said vision, he declared that his understanding of the vision was pertaining to the acceptance of gentiles for salvation. |
