If he gave us a standard to live by, do you think he is so mean to give us a standard that is impossible to live by? He lived by that standard, thus proving it could be done. Not only that, but he gives the Holy Spirit to empower us to do the same. It's us that shortchanges ourselves to say we can't live it. I'm not sure what you are referencing by Romans 15:4. "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." But I agree with it, these things were written for our learning. But from what I see, most churchianity wants to forget the things we are to learn, and it makes me ask why. These things were written for our comfort and hope. Wellbeing in general, actually. ISRV renders that verse "Rom 15:4 For whatever was written before was written for our instruction,1 that through endurance and encouragement of the Scriptures we might have the expectation." Footnote: 1 1Cor. 10:11, 2Tim. 3:14-17. Again, what most churchianity teaches is that the Scriptures that Paul and Yah'shua loved and taught from are relatively invalid now. I've heard people that Yah'shua lived a perfect life, he did it for them so they don't have to. That is mistaken. It was the penalty he paid. Read how important Yah'shua thought keeping the commands was: Mat 19:17 John 14:15 teaches if we don't guard his commands, we don't love him. Remember that he revealed the Father to Moses, and that he and the Father are one. Thus it was him that gave the commands to Moses. 1Cor 7:19 There is a difference between the keeping of the oral traditions and the law of Elohim. Oral tradition is not binding, never was. The commands of Yahweh are binding and expected to be kept. |

Hello Face, The cross continues to be the pivotal event of scripture and for mankind. Heb 10:1 "For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near." Rom 7:6 "But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter." Rom 10:4 "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." The claims of the law were met when the believer was put to death in the Person of a Substitute. God's law still stands in all it's righteousness, but our relationship to it has changed. We are no longer under its dominion and condemnation. The believer's relation has been so changed through the death and resurrection of Christ that the Law is no longer his master. Gal 3:24- 25 "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

3 | So the law was valid until his death? | Mark 7:19 | Face | 176214 | ||
so then when Yah'shua said that heaven and earth would pass before one jot or tittle passed from the law, are you saying that when he died, that was heaven and earth passing? Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I don't know about you, but I think that being called least isn't a good thing. Or are you saying he wouldn't destroy them as long as he was alive, but would destroy them at death. Still, heaven and earth are still here, so not the law and prophets? |

Dear Face, I always find it interesting how people will either neglect Galatians or James, depending on which side of the antinomian or Judaizer issue they happen to embrace. In either case, when it comes to the forum, they tend to be pretty mono-thematic in their posts. In the words of Charles Spurgeon, one cannot help wondering "Why do they earnestly set themselves to confute what no one defends?" Burning straw men is tiring work. So is beating dead horses. I think you've made your position pretty clear after some 20 plus posts on the subject. Shall we move along with our study of the Bible? It contains quite a few other subjects worthy of our careful consideration. In Him, Doc |

What's the purpose of studying the rest of it if we can't even get the basics right? Our Saviour and Messiah says one thing clearly. Later we believe somebody who appears to talk out of both sides of his mouth. Somebody is wrong. Who is it? Or is the second person, namely Paul, saying something other than what common churchianity is teaching? Who do you believe, the person who's word last forever, or a bunch of people who have been beating the wrong drum? |

You wrote, "Later we believe somebody who appears to talk out of both sides of his mouth. Somebody is wrong. Who is it? Or is the second person, namely Paul, saying something other than what common churchianity is teaching? Who do you believe, the person who's word last forever, or a bunch of people who have been beating the wrong drum?" And then there's the guy beating his own drum... to his own beat... without the support of anyone excepting, possibly, Ellen G. White and Garner Ted Armstrong. Another good Spurgeon quote: "It seems odd, that certain men who talk so much about what the Holy Spirit reveals to themselves, should think so little of what He has revealed to others." Frankly, does it matter so much whether it is the left side of the ditch or the right side of the ditch into which one has fallen? Now may we, please, move on? |

Very well, I'll hold my peace on this subject. But I just don't understand why people throw away the base of what all has built on. |
