3 | Not incest, but adultery? | Mark 6:18 | disciplerami | 77521
It was because who was alive, Philip? So you are saying that Herod and Herodias were committing adultery because Herodias' first husband was still alive? You don't believe that the unlawful sin was incest? Looking for answers. Thanks |

4 | Not incest, but adultery? | Mark 6:18 | justme | 77527
disciplerim: In a pure way of thinking, relations within a family being a relative it very well could be considered incest. Most certianly Herodia's daughter was dancing to stirr up Herods errotic feelings, and her dancing was intended to arrouse him. That would by Christ deffination of lusting after a woman would be incestual thoughts. What do you think? Peace. justme |

5 | Not incest, but adultery? | Mark 6:18 | disciplerami | 77531
Hi Justme, I think that may be the case with Herodias' daughter. Maybe he was having incestuous thoughts with her who was also called Herodias, and whom Josephus called Salome. But I'm referring to the relationship between Herod and Herodias [the mother of the one who was dancing before Herod], also the wife of Philip. Some people believe the 'unlawful' sin was adultery [because he had his sister-in-law for a wife] and others believe it was 'unlawful' because he was married to a blood relative. Since Herodias had the same BLOOD relationship with Herod and Philip [the two brothers], if incest was the sin, then wouldn't the Holy Spirit bypass the discussion over Herod having his brother's wife and directly address the problem of incest? Thoughts please. Disciplerami |

6 | Not incest, but adultery? | Mark 6:18 | justme | 77555
disciplermi: No matter what the termonology we call the sin, John's being upfront and presenting the truth, cost him his life. To be the messenger of truth has cost many Christians their phyical life, and to gain a crown. I am reading a book on Christians who have died for their faith. Some suffered such pain and torture I have had to put the book down several times. I would like to believe my love for Christ would endure such testing. In reality being tortured is very fearful scary thought. My weakness would have to be made strong by the Holy Spirit as surely that would be the ultimate test of endurance, and John endured as dic the others. I imagine the brothers who burried John were deeply tormented by what they saw. We recently had one of our New Tribes missionaries killed last year. So it is possible for any Christian to be put to the test of our faith, in ways we never thought could happen. That's my thoughts, perhaps different than you hoped for. Blessings Disciplermi. justme |

Justme, I appreciate your thoughts and John did pay a heavy price because he stood up for the truth. Here is another question that might help you understand what I'm looking for (the truth): Was Herodias' the lawful wife of Philip, Herod's brother? I looking for some help. Thanks. Disciplerami |
