Hello, Cyclist! If you will permit me a side bar observation about ignorance, not pertaining to you or anyone else personally, I would like to confess that in almost no area am I really a hot-shot expert (though I may at times delude myself into thinking so) and in many areas I am quite dismally ignorant. There is no man who is not superior to me in some way. Accordingly, I believe that the man of God, if he feels possessed of the license to call his brother ignorant, should take remedial steps to get that license revoked forthwith. :-) Even though I am a self-confessed ignoramus, I'd much prefer to confess my ignorance than hear it proclaimed by one who, on balance, is likely just as ignorant in his way as I in mine. I stress again that this is no thinly-disguised attempt to point an accusing finger at anyone; it is meant rather to be a testimony to what my 67 years have taught me about ignorance, mine mainly, but also about how wide-spread ignorance is among the imprefect creatures that comprise the human species. Realization of my ignorance has had a positive effect on my life and outlook, however. It is easier to be humble and harder to be proud when I look ignorance squarely in the fact and realize how much of it I have. --Hank | ||||||

Hank, I appreciate your wise self-observation. As Proverbs 19:20 says, "listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days". If we are honest with ourselves, we'll have to agree that we are all ignorant in Gods' sight. The first step toward wisdom is to realize we need to seek it (Prov.1). Biblically, it appears that wisdom is aquired over time. We don't inherently possess it. I believe that's why Paul exhorted us,"Do not be wise in your own estimation".(Rom.12:16) Thanks for speaking the truth in love. Yours In Christ, BradK |
