1 | Bill Mc, Are you twisting Scripture? | Matt 6:14 | kalos | 16319 | ||
One of the basic principles of biblical interpretation is the *analogia scriptura*, the analogy of Scripture. In other words, we must compare Scripture with Scripture in order to understand its full and proper sense. And SINCE THE BIBLE DOESN'T CONTRADICT ITSELF, ANY INTERPRETATION OF A SPECIFIC PASSAGE THAT CONTRADICTS THE GENERAL TEACHING OF THE BIBLE IS TO BE REJECTED. |

RE: Matthew 6:14-15. It is not the passage, but Mr. Butler's *interpretation* of the passage, that contradicts the teaching of the rest of the Bible on the same subject. I never said that one passage contradicts the general teaching of the Bible or that one passage is to be rejected. You and Mr. Butler need to learn to read and pay attention. Let's try it again. What I said was: SINCE THE BIBLE DOESN'T CONTRADICT ITSELF, ANY INTERPRETATION OF A SPECIFIC PASSAGE THAT CONTRADICTS THE GENERAL TEACHING OF THE BIBLE IS TO BE REJECTED. I was speaking of an INTERPRETATION OF a passage -- not the passage itself. |
