1 | Bible's view on suicide? | Matt 27:5 | JCrichton | 125489
Part 3 of 3 The Apostles understood this very clearly as they maintained Jesus’ command to love and forgive one another. Paul’s main message is that we change from our old sinful wretched nature into Christ’s righteous nature. John emphasizes that we are sinners and that we make God a liar if we claim to be free of sin; yet, as adamant as he is of this teaching, John reveals that we are to walk in the light and embrace the fact that if we sin we have One who intercedes in our behalf!: This is what we have heard from him and are declaring to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. If we say that we share in God’s life while we are living in darkness, we are lying, because we are not living the truth. But if we live in light, as he is in light, we have a share in another’s life, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say, ‘We have no sin,’ we are deceiving ourselves, and truth has no place in us; if we acknowledge our sins, he is trustworthy and upright, so that he will forgive our sins and will cleanse us from all evil. If we say, ‘We have never sinned,’ we make him a liar, and his word has no place in us. (1 John 1:6-10) Notice that John does not say that Jesus’ Blood cleansed us from all sin--as something that happened once; John say that it cleanses us from sin--this is a continual process as we have inherited a body of sin in a world under sin. He, John, also lays down an absolute rule: we must acknowledge our sins! Acknowledging our sins does not mean stepping onto a pedestal and announcing our many infractions and frailties; it means being responsible for our faults and rebellious acts against God! It means that we must humbly seek God’s forgiveness, in Christ’s Jesus: My children, I am writing this to prevent you from sinning; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the upright. He is the sacrifice to expiate our sins, and not only ours, but also those of the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2) Committing suicide is sinning against God; a sin from which God cannot pre-forgive us. Relying on the ability to regain Faith and remorse during the final nanoseconds of life is like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver: there’s no way to win! God Bless! Angel |

2 | Bible's view on suicide? | Matt 27:5 | EdB | 125553
Angel Most Excellent! Again the question should not be, "can a person commit suicide and go to heaven?" It should be, "can a saved person commit suicide?" I say no. Committing suicide is basically saying God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are not enough, you have to take your own life to get yourself through what ever. Where is the faith? Where is the trust? Where is the reliance on Christ? It isn't present. Therefore I don't see the person say being saved. EdB |

3 | Bible's view on suicide? | Matt 27:5 | JCrichton | 125567
Hi, EdB! You are so correct! We have the Rock of Salvation on our side and He called us to rely on Him (Matthew 11:28) and He will give us rest. Yet we run into problems when we persist on relying on ourselves and the world rather than on God! When our faith is tested, we should not walk, but run to Jesus Christ! If we abide in Christ, He will abide in us. And we will be able to face all situations, in His Power! (Philippians 4:13) God Bless! Angel |
