1 | Does the OT talk about resurrection? | Matt 22:30 | Morant61 | 17380
Greetings CDBJ! I'm afraid I'm still confused! The Hebrew word 'Amad' is a Qal stem verb. The Enhanced Strong's lists the following definitions for it: ******************************************** 1) to stand, remain, endure, take one’s stand 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to stand, take one’s stand, be in a standing attitude, stand forth, take a stand, present oneself, attend upon, be or become servant of 1a2) to stand still, stop (moving or doing), cease 1a3) to tarry, delay, remain, continue, abide, endure, persist, be steadfast 1a4) to make a stand, hold one’s ground 1a5) to stand upright, remain standing, stand up, rise, be erect, be upright 1a6) to arise, appear, come on the scene, stand forth, appear, rise up or against 1a7) to stand with, take one’s stand, be appointed, grow flat, grow insipid ******************************************** The problem with correlating Dan. 12:1 with 2 Thes. 2:7 is that 'Amad' does not mean 'to disappear' or 'to be removed'. It means 'to take a stand or stand'. So, where did you get the definitions of 'cease, leave, and rise up'? I checked several sources and never saw those listed as options. Just curious! 2 | Does the OT talk about resurrection? | Matt 22:30 | Listener | 72549
Tim, I know it's been awhile since you wrote the note - but... Carefull examination of the context of 2 Thess 2:7 shows that the one restrained is the antichrist (the beast). Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. Revelation 20:1 ¶And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. So it seems that an angel is given authority to remove the restraint from the antichrist allowing him to ascend from the bottomless pit. This seems straightforward to me but I've seen very few others who see it the same way. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Listener |

3 | Does the OT talk about resurrection? | Matt 22:30 | Morant61 | 72553
Greetings Listener! The only problem I would have with your approach is that 2 Thess. 2:7 speaks of "He who holds back", not "he who is held back". So, 2 Thess. 2:7 isn't speak of anyone being restrained, but of someone (or something) who holds back. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
