Hi, Candy Lee... If your salvation is partly dependent on your sovereign will, as you have described it, then you have something about which to boast. God will need to share at least a portion of His glory with you. Honestly, I've never known anything as fickle as my own will. It would be frightening to believe that God's eternal purpose could be instantly thwarted by the vagaries of my own will! In Him, Doc Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (Jeremiah 13:23) Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (Matthew 6:27) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (Matthew 7:18) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. (John 3:19-20) And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (John 5:40) All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (John 6:65) There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. (Romans 3:11) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:7-8) "If any man doth ascribe of salvation, even the very least, to the free will of man, he knoweth nothing of grace, and he hath not learnt Jesus Christ aright." --Martin Luther "To suppose that whatever God requireth of us that we have power of ourselves to do, is to make the cross and grace of Jesus Christ of none effect." --John Owen "Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do his good pleasure" --George Whitefield "'Now,' says one, 'I believe men can be saved if they will.' My dear sir, that is not the question at all. The question is, are men ever found naturally willing to submit to the humbling terms of the gospel of Christ? We declare, upon Scriptural authority, that the human will is so desperately set on mischief, so depraved, and so inclined to everything that is evil, and so disinclined to everything that is good, that without the powerful. supernatural, irresistible influence of the Holy Spirit, no human will ever be constrained towards Christ. You reply, that men sometimes are willing, without the help of the Holy Spirit. I answer -- Did you ever meet with any person who was?'" --C.H. Spurgeon "If the final decision for the salvation of fallen sinners were left in the hands of fallen sinners, we would despair all hope that anyone would be saved" --R. C. Sproul |

All men have a choice as to who they will follow, serve, obey, etc.God draws you by the Holy Spirit. You either listen,or turn away from hearing. That choice is yours. To sin is a choice. You either choose to sin or you ask God for strenght to not sin.The human heart is evil. We can do nothing of our own to be saved, it is a free gift from God. You choose either to accept it or not. God/Christ does not force any to obey him or to come to him. It is a responce to the calling of the Holy Spirit. The choice is still that of the sinner;to listen, accept,Follow, obey. | ||||||

Dear Candy Lee, Without Biblical support for a position, one is stating nothing more than human opinion. That is why it says on the main forum page, "Posts must be Biblically based and include supportive Bible references whenever possible." I have presented Scriptural support for what I've been saying. You have neither challanged that support, nor have you cited Scripture to support a contrary position. Dear young lady, we are a Bible study forum. We are gathered to understand the Scripture. We appreciate that you have opinions, but if they are not founded on Scripture, then they do not contribute to our effort. Other forums are available to you if that is your objective. In Him, Doc |
