How do you know? Can you see the motives of their hearts? We can only guess. The rich man asked what did he lack.Christ said keep the commandments. He said he had done this. What do I lack? It was love. He couldn't love his neighbor as himself. Who was his neighbor? The poor, fatherless, and widow. He could not give up all he had for Christ. His love was where his heart was, with his possessions. As for Judas, he wanted a high position, fame you might say. Did God draw him? Was the free gift offered to him? God knows who are his. Does this mean that he doesn't offer that gift to those that are not? Are we all not his for we are all his. The saved and the lost are his. If this were not so then he could not destroy the wicked. All are offered the gift of life through Jesus Christ the Son of God. Yes ,God does the drawing. we choose to accept or not. If we accept it then we abide in Christ through the indwelling of the Holy spirit. This is what changes us. It is not a work we do for ourself. Works are the result of the change.Judas, seeing that he hung himself I would tend to agree that he lacked the change. Therefore he didn't choose to accept the gift of life offered to him . To say that all men are not given the chance to accept Christ is to give satan grounds to accuse God of favoritism.I think he did that with Job didn't he?

candy lee, I merely asked you whether you could find any hard evidence that Judas or the rich man ever had any salvation to "lose." I never pretended to know, as your question to me suggests. --Hank
