It is impossible to restore again to repentance those who fall away. You write: "True repentance is accepted..." But God says: Hebrews 6:4-6 (ESV) FOR IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RESTORE AGAIN TO REPENTANCE THOSE WHO have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, [5] and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, [6] if they then FALL AWAY, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. (Emphasis added.) Hebrews 6:4,6 (NIV) (4) It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,...(6) if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. * * * * * * * * * * * * * www.seekfind.org Christian Search Engine The mission of SeekFind.org is to provide God-honoring, Biblically-based, and theologically-sound Christian search engine results in a highly accurate and well-organized format. |

Only God can read the motives of the heart. True repentance is accepted by God. The Holy Spirit moves upon the hearts of men to bring them to repent. There have been a few other post on this thread that I have read. They also give good insight on this question. Can you loose your salvatiion? Yes, by rejecting the life giver and standing with those who hate him. The choice is always yours as I said before. Judas made his choice. He could have repented, but instead he was only distrought over his plan not working. What about the rich man who asked Christ what he lacked. He chose not to sell all he had and follow Christ. The parable of the vineyard again a good example. The priest knew that Jesus was talking about them. Isa5:1-7,Mk12:1-12. They knew Jesus was from God.Mk12;14 They acknowldeged that he was true and taught he way of God. They still plotted his death. There are those who rejected Jesus then that latter came to believe. Anyone who is truly sorry for their sin and ask for forgiveness and puts away their sin and walks in truth will be accepted by Christ. You must choose which side you want to be on. You can't flip flop back and forth over and over again. | ||||||

Hi, Candy Lee... If your salvation is partly dependent on your sovereign will, as you have described it, then you have something about which to boast. God will need to share at least a portion of His glory with you. Honestly, I've never known anything as fickle as my own will. It would be frightening to believe that God's eternal purpose could be instantly thwarted by the vagaries of my own will! In Him, Doc Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (Jeremiah 13:23) Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (Matthew 6:27) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (Matthew 7:18) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. (John 3:19-20) And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (John 5:40) All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (John 6:65) There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. (Romans 3:11) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:7-8) "If any man doth ascribe of salvation, even the very least, to the free will of man, he knoweth nothing of grace, and he hath not learnt Jesus Christ aright." --Martin Luther "To suppose that whatever God requireth of us that we have power of ourselves to do, is to make the cross and grace of Jesus Christ of none effect." --John Owen "Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do his good pleasure" --George Whitefield "'Now,' says one, 'I believe men can be saved if they will.' My dear sir, that is not the question at all. The question is, are men ever found naturally willing to submit to the humbling terms of the gospel of Christ? We declare, upon Scriptural authority, that the human will is so desperately set on mischief, so depraved, and so inclined to everything that is evil, and so disinclined to everything that is good, that without the powerful. supernatural, irresistible influence of the Holy Spirit, no human will ever be constrained towards Christ. You reply, that men sometimes are willing, without the help of the Holy Spirit. I answer -- Did you ever meet with any person who was?'" --C.H. Spurgeon "If the final decision for the salvation of fallen sinners were left in the hands of fallen sinners, we would despair all hope that anyone would be saved" --R. C. Sproul |

NOR OF HUMAN DECISION...but born of God [Doc: Thank you for an excellent post. When I read it I was reminded of how clearly the point is made in John 1:13 in the NIV. --Kalos] Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God -- children born not of natural descent, NOR OF HUMAN DECISION or a husband's will, but born of God. John 1:12-13 :: New International Version (NIV) (Emphasis added.) nor of human decision...but born of God. 'The divine side of salvation: ultimately it is not a man's will that produces salvation but God's will.'
