1 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | mark d seyler | 163460
Hi srinaldi, The answer is found in Romans 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH." 18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. 19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" 20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? 21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? 22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? God wanted to show His power to the world, and He chose to do it through Pharaoh. There is a time coming that God will do a similar thing to others. 2 Thess 2:8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. Because they did not receive the love of the truth, God will hold these people for judgment, having judged them already, even though they continue to walk the earth. Hebrews 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

Dear Brother Mark, Are you saying that between Pharaoh and the time when "God will do a similar thing to others" no one else has had their heart hardened? How does that square with the rest of Romans 9? In Him, Doc |

3 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | mark d seyler | 163686
Hi Doc! I merely wished to give another example. I realize that I did not use every example available. Romans 9-11 spells out the hardness of Isreal, as prophesied by Isaiah, quoted by Jesus, and seen to the present day. Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi, Mark... Although, one should remember, that Romans 1 through 3 sets out the same condition for all men. Sin is an equal opportunity employer. :-) In Him, Doc |

5 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | mark d seyler | 163731
Hi Doc, Absolutely! And even we as believers can risk hardening our hearts, and missing God's blessings! Also in Hebrews, and I think this speaks most to the application of this discussion, Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Brothers, do not be deceived by sin! Believe the LORD, and all that He says, and do those things He commands! :-) Love in Christ, Mark |

6 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | DocTrinsograce | 163744
Hi, Mark... The 2 Peter -- much discussed lately -- states much the same thing, calling believers to "make their calling and election sure," and warning them from deception. The wheat and tares look a lot alike. It would be an awful thing to go through life thinking "I'm okay, you're okay," only to end up with Christ saying, "I never knew you." Thank you for your comments. In Him, Doc |
