1 | Why did God wait to send the Holy Spirit | Joel 2:28 | Sir Pent | 113976
I need clarification................................ Hi Casiv, Thanks for the scripture referrance. I looked at that passage, and I want to make sure that I understand what you wanted me to learn from it. This is what I assume the passage is saying. God sent the Holy Spirit "into our hearts" because we were sons (Gal 4:6). We were sons because we were redeemed and adopted (Gal 4:5). We were redeemed and adopted through God sending His Son Jesus (Gal 4:4). Is this interpretation along the lines of what you were thinking? |

2 | Why did God wait to send the Holy Spirit | Joel 2:28 | Ray | 114110
Hi Sir Pent, Galatians 4:6 does not say that the Holy Spirit was sent into our hearts. Galatians 4:6, "And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit/ of His Son into our hearts, crying, (Abba), Father!" Galatians 5:5, "For we through the Spirit/, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness." Galatians 3:14, "in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit/ through faith." Galatians 3:22, "But the Scripture has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus (Christ) might be given to those who believe." Galatians 3:29, "And if you belong to (Christ), then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." From the heart, Ray |

3 | Based on a promise? Know God? | Joel 2:28 | Ray | 114264
Are these better comparison verses? 1) Galatians 3:6-16, "Even so Abraham believed (God), and 'it was reckoned to him as righteousness'." Galatians 3:29-4:6, "And if you belong to (Christ), then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." 2) Galatians 3:14, "IN ORDER THAT in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit/ through faith. 15...16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. He does not say, "And to seeds, as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your (Seed)," that is, Christ." Galatians 4:5, "IN ORDER THAT He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit/ of His Son into our hearts, crying, "(Abba!) Father!" 3) Galatians 3:29 Galatians 5:6 4)Galatians 3:17 Galatians 4:7 The bold print, parentheses, and slashes are mine for comparisons. From the heart, Ray |

Hi kalos, I want to make some corrections on these comparisons. I meant for the third one to be Galatians 3:28 and for the fourth Galatians 4:7 and 8 because I go with the NKJ for Galatians 3:17. 3) Gal 3:28, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal 5:6, "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love." 4) Gal 3:17, "What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God [in **Christ, NKJ] so as to nullify the promise." Gal 4:7, "Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God. 8 However at that time, when you did not know **God, you were slaves to those which by nature are no gods."
