Bible Question:
Psalm 51:12, NASB, "Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit." Psalm 51:12, NKJ, "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit." Which translation is the better interpretation in your mind? From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Scripture-Psa 51:12 . Word Study-N@diybah ... N@diybah (Strong's 5082) is the word translated willing or generous. It is noun feminine and means nobility, nobleness, noble deeds. Nadab (Strong's 5068) is the primitive root. It means to incite, impel, make willing. By that I would choose willing. It is not the Holy Spirit ... but our spirit. He is always willing and we are not always willing - so we need to ask for it. |
