THE SCRIPTURE SAYS, MATH.5-29,ROM;8;13,MATH,6;22,2CORN.;5;10,1 CORN,6;13,1 CORN;9;27,ALL THESE PLUS MANY MORE FROM OLD TEST. TO NEW TELL US NOT TO PUT ANYTHING INTO OUR BODIES THAT MAKE THE MIND UNSTABLE, TO ME ITS NOT WORTH TAKING A CHANCE ON LOOSING MY SOUL, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO TALK TO GOD ABOUT. THE PASSAGE IN INTERPRETATION FROM HEBREW AND GREEK TELLS ME THAT THIS WAS RECOMENDED ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SPREAD OF BOWEL DESIESE THAT WAS RAMPENT AT THE TIME ,TODAY WE HAVE ANTIBIOTICS.DAIRYLEADER5 | ||||||

Dear DAIRYLEADER5, Thank you for the texts which you believe prohibit drinking wine. The problem is that they are a strong warning to those who eye is blurred; who live according to the flesh (which exempts true believers); those whose deeds are bad and those who are undisciplined. None of the verses prohibit the godly use of wine. My concern in answering your post is not the defense of wine but of christian liberty. I detest man-made commandments (legalism) and will have no part in them. They lead people into the snare of works-righteousness. There are certain things that God has given us the freedom to do or not do. I believe the MODERATE use of wine (or any other alchoholic beveridge) is one of those freedoms. The primary reason I have for answering these " drinking is sin" posts is that God has commanded "Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil;" (Rom 14:16) PS: In case you don't know, to commuicate on the internet in all caps is considered poor manners. It is the equivelant of shouting at someone. :-) God Bless, John Reformed |
