1 | "I pray Thee" Earnestly implore? | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105376
In the former 1977 copyright of the NASB this verse reads, "Now, O my God, I pray Thee..." This probably was changed in the 1995 version to make it sound less formal perhaps; perhaps for some other reason. My question is: how formal should we be when we talk to God? How much do we have to beseech or beg when we pray to Him? From the heart, Ray |

2 | "I pray Thee" Earnestly implore? | 2 Chr 6:40 | justme | 105379
Greetings Ray! May I say I often start my prayer with "Holy Father..." There are times I will address God as Lord Almighty Yahweh, even My Father. I do not address our Holy Father, in any other term except that which reflects my adoration, reverance, and my most worthy terms of indearment. I also praise Jesus for being my Lord and confess my sim and seek His wisdom, and His direct will for my life. I believe having become so dependant upon His daily support for my life to continue has changed how I respond to the Holy Father and Jesus my Saviour. I am so undeserving of the mercy and grace extended to me. Ray what how do you talk with God? Blessings dear brother. justme |

3 | "I pray Thee" Earnestly implore? | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105520
Hi justme, How do I talk with God? I'm probably pretty formal more times than not, using the Thee and Thou words. But as Reed says here in the thread, we all pray just as we want and feel. Just do it, as they say. I would say that you are doing well from what you have told me. I can appreciate also the dependance we have upon Him for living one day at a time in our particular instances (although it is that way for everyone, whether they feel that way or not). One other thing that I might comment on in passing if your phrasing of "the Holy Father". It brought to mind the 'Holy Father" of John 17:11 which starts the sentence and the "O righteous Father" of John 17:25 where it is not the first word. In other words, is His name Holy. I know that Ezekiel 39:25 says "I will be jealous for My holy name." But is His name Holy or Jealous? Exodus 34:14. I spoke with Kalos about that some time ago and meant to bring it up with him yet again some time. Good talking with you. I had written to you earlier but I had it lost in cyberspace. What a bummer. 4 | I pray Thee and then He will hear? :)) | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105522
The prayer of Solomon in 2 Chron 6:14-42 has the request that God hear from heaven. I connect the verses 2 Chron 6:40 with 7:14 with the idea of "I pray Thee" and "the I will hear from heaven". So my desire is to convince that the "I pray Thee" of NASB, 1977 or the "I beseech You" of the Amplified be accepted here. 2 Chronicles 6:40, "...let Thine eyes be open, and Thine ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place." 2 Chronicles 7:15, "Now My eyes shall be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place." 5 | I pray Thee and then He will hear? :)) | 2 Chr 6:40 | Mommapbs | 105573
Greetings Ray - I don't know if I understand your question here . . . but this is that track I am following . . . We pray for God to see and hear and He responds. Now, contrast these verses with Eph 1:18 where Paul says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints," To me, this verse reminds us to choose to see things from God's perspective - that WE are HIS treasure, His inheritance and that gives us great value and immeasurable worth, for we were bought with the precious blood of Christ! He sees and listens to us, His dear children! Blessings, mommapbs |

6 | I pray Thee and then He will hear? :)) | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105633
Hi Mommapbs, When we look at things from God's perspective do we go right away to a bold-faced WE? I agree that we are loved and treasured by God as His possession; but I am not sure that we are His inheritance. Looking at Ephesians 1:18 I would say that the inheritance in the saints is that spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. That Holy Spirit or holy spirit is the down payment and pledge of our inheritance. So really I should be expressing the balance that is there. God hears our words from His dwelling place, but from God's perspective we should be hearing His words of treasure. Psalm 5:1, "Give ear to my words, O (Lord), Consider my groaning. Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King, and my God, For to Thee do I pray. In the morning, O Lord, Thou wilt hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee/ and eagerly watch." 2 Chronicles 6:15, "who has kept with (Thy) servant David, my father, that which Thou has promised [Lit. spoken to] him; indeed, Thou hast spoken with Thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with Thy hand, as it is this day." So we pray to our King and our God and He hears; and the things that He promised to David, He has spoken with His mouth. It is a two-way conversation. John 8:47, "He who is of God hears the words of (God)..." From the heart, Ray |

7 | what is the son's her | 2 Chr 6:40 | Mommapbs | 105639
For your consideration: "But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.' Matthew 21:38. Who is the son and what is the son's inheritance? Blessings, mommapbs |
