"I have heard more than one person exclaim they hope they get left behind so they can really serve the Lord. That thought pattern scares me." Why doesn't that individual pray for damnation so s/he can witness to the souls in hell, too? They REALLY need Jesus! Never ceases to amaze me... --Joe! |

Joe You got me LOFL. Your right it is the height of stupidity or at least ignorance. Now I going to have to pray that God gives me more compassion for the idiots of this world because this shouldn't be that funny but it is. EdB |

The really not-so-funny part of it is is the underlying assumption that it will take a vanishing church to put one in a position to serve our Lord. Rather than desiring to be "left behind," why doesn't this individual see the God-ordained mandate and unsurpassed value of serving in the context of the visible church NOW to extend God's kingdom? --Joe! |

Joe Like I said I think these people are caught up the excitement and intrigue that the 'Left Behind' series has painted. They fancy themselves as soldiers for Jesus. To do anything now is so boring and mundane. Instead many fancy themselves as globe trotting crusaders flying around the world to foil the antichrist’s plans. The church has lost all focus on Salvation and Hell. In many churches the realities of Hell are considered unnecessarily upsetting and are not even mentioned. People consider the second coming of Christ as almost a bothersome end for their wonderful life here on earth. I know one couple that left a church because the Pastor was teaching on Revelation and they didn’t want hear it because they were newly married and had their whole life ahead of them. Look at how many people treat a salvation. Is anybody looking, can I slip out the back door while the pastor is talking to the new convert? I have been in churches where a Pastor gives an altar call and you can almost hear the people moan, this again? The idea is not getting people saved it is living this exciting glamorous life portrayed in Left Behind. Oh by the way they would be working for the good guys! EdB |
