Robert, Continueing with John 5:24 and your statement that a Christian shall not come into judgement, how are we then to understand 2Co 5:10 (For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ...) and 1Pe1:17 (And if you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each man's work, conduct yourselve in fear during the time of your stay upon earth;..)? Try finishing the concept begun with J0 5:24, as well, by reading through verse 29. This is obviously in agreement with Jo 3:36: John 3:36 36"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." NAS Have a great day! |

Dear overseer: We must remember that there is a Judgment seat for those who belong to Christ which Paul refers to as the "Bema" which is the reward seat for those who have run the race. 2 Cor. 5:10 If you refer to 1 Cor. 3:12-14 refers to this judgment. When our works and motives after we are saved are judged by God. "The fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is" In Verse 15 "If any man's work shall be burned he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire" The judgment seat of Christ is not for judging sin because sin was judged when he bore its awful load on the cross. There is also the Great White throne judgment when the dead small and great will stand before God Rev.20. This judgement is the end for all who have died outside of Christ and who have rejected him. The two judgments which I have mentioned show that God is impartial and righteous in his Judgement. We make a choice by faith to accept the judgment as borne by Christ or we can reject Christ and suffer for our own sins. John 3:36 the NAS translation replaces "he that believeth not the Son" KJV to "he who does not obey the Son" What obedience is this talking about. This is not the Christian life which is in view, but the attitude of a lost sinner who does not obey the gospel. John in 1 John 5:12 we read "He that hath the son hath life, he that hath not the son of God hath not life" God bless Robert |

Friend, your assertion of two judgements is not supported in the context. Each person will be judged according to their deeds. Those who chose disobedience, whether in the body or not, will be cast into hell. Those who chose obedience to God's law will recieve heaven. The greek word for "judgement seat" makes no distinction, or implication, that it is reserved solely for Christians. That is wishful thinking. 1Peter1:17, by the way, still presents a problem,as well, since it would make little sense for a Christian to conduct themselves in fear, if there was nothing they could do to change their situation (That would be quite unfair of God, if that were the case, wouldn't it?). A bigger question may be, "To whom is the Bible written?". Is scripture not the "travel guide" for Christians? Do pagans have any interest in the Bible? Certainly, the majority of the books of the New Testament are addressed specifically to saints. Are any addressed to pagans? Does not the word itself tell us that scripture is foolishness and veiled to those who are perishing? Why would John 3:36, like every word of God's holy writ,be written to and for anyone other than those who make up God's kingdom! Christians do not need to be told their pagan neighbors shall not see life. Christians need to be reminded; and they are time and time again for those who have ears to hear; that Christianity is a race. Only Christians run in it and, with effort, successfully finish. Sadly, I suspect, those percentages are few. Have a pleasant day. |
