Dearest Hank, Brad and Doc, Do you or do you not believe that the betrayal of Christ was the fulfillment of prophecy. If it was then Judas was an essential part of God's plan. Yours and His, Paul. |

Hi, Paul... God, in His providence, makes use of "second causes" (Genesis 8:22; 50:20; Proverbs 16:33; Acts 2:23). Furthermore, He normally makes use of means. But He is free to work without them, or to make their effectiveness greater than what they might be under "normal" circumstances. (See Isaiah. 55:10, 11; Daniel 3:27; Hosea 1:7; Acts 27:31, 44; Romans 4:19-21). You see, God's omniscience, omnisapience, omnipotence, infinite goodness is so far reaching that even the sinful acts of men and angels proceed according to His sovereign purposes. He doesn't just give passive permission... instead, He divinely controls, limits, governs, orders, and influences those sinful actions to accomplish His holy purposes. But -- and this is important -- all of that sinfulness comes out of the men and angels themselves! God is perfectly holy and righteous, and is never the author of sin, nor does He ever approve of it! (See Genesis 50:20; 2 Samuel 24:1; 2 Kings 19:28; 1 Chronicles 21:1; Psalm 50:21; 76:10; Isaiah 10:6,7,12; Romans 11:32-34; 1 John 2:16.) Consequently, you can't turn cause and effect around as you've done. It gives rise to a specious and erroneous doctrine, contrary to the full and evident teaching of the whole of Scripture. Hence, the reason for our amusement. In Him, Doc |
