Hi Shelby1 This would be rather hard to describe, since no one alive has seen it. Nevertheless, there could be some very valid views held, but we need to know which 'day' you are referring to. There is the "Great White Throne" judgment, And There is the lesser known "Bema Seat" judgment which will only be attended by reborn Christians, and shall follow the "Great White Throne" judgment. In the verse above, the Words 'Judgment seat' have been translated from the Greek, 'Bema', which means the official seat of a judge which is normally upon a raised platform. And where it says, "we must all" it is important to consider the audience that Paul was talking to. This would be the Church in Corinth, and as Paul clarifies his selection of audience in verse 7, the ones who "...walk by faith, not by sight" See you then (o; keliy |

While Keliy is right that the details of the judgment are rather hard to describe, the assurance that it is coming should cause us to take stock of our lives. I suspect neither God nor Jesus put much stock in the label "Christian" or "born again." God looks at the heart and the actions and, ultimately, judges/weighs us from his point-of-view. Jesus said that all people will appear before him to be judged -- not according to their labels, their doctrines, their creeds, their statements of faith -- but according to whether they have done God's will (Matt 7:21). It's not so much a matter of what we believe as it is a matter of how we live. The "right faith", James says, results in the "right works" (James 2:14-26) Despite what some may say, Jesus judges ALL according to their works. And it is, according to the Bible, a matter of life and death. For those who do good, immortality. For those who do evil, death (Rom 2:6-8). It all comes down to that (Rom 6:23).

Hello bill..., If I might add it is not a matter so much of what- but Whom we have believed! John 3:36 - "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."(NASB) In Him, BradK |

Good quote, Brad! Excellent! According to Jesus, "believing"in him is inextricably linked to obeying him. If we don't obey him, and I'm preaching to myself here also, then we don't truly believe in him.

Hi Bill, I think you have the cart in front of the horse here? Faith is not predicated on our works, i.e "obedience", but rather the completed work of Christ on the cross! Eph. 2:8-9 states, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." (NASB) I don't buy a works-based righteousness:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
