If I may, I thought I'd take a shot at handling your question. The Bible examples of the church's handling problem really is the best way. When a brother notices a serious "wrinkle" in his brother's or sister's spiritual life, then he/she should approach that person in love and genuine concern for their soul as cited in Matt 18:15-16. Then you know the procedure from there, it gets elevated eventually to the church leadership, preferbly the elders. The most difficult and vital ingredient in this process MUST be the genuine Agape type love and fellowship that must exist between the erring christian and this group of christians. If that love and fellowship doesn't really mean that much either of those parties in this process, then the whole practice of this discipline process breaks down and doesn't work very well. But ultimately it is the responsibility of the eldership of that local congregation to watch out for that group of christians. An eldership has some responsibilities to be kind and INFORM another congregation of a brother that they have disciplined and excluded from the fellowship BUT again ultimately the eldership of that other congregation has its own responsibility to its congregation so we see how important it is to have and maintain elders. That's one of the reasons for so much disunity and lack of growth in the Lord's church in America today is our tendancy to no longer follow the examples and commands as laid out in God's Word. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Amen about lack of discipline in today's Churches and Fellowship. We must pray, and work towards returning back to the Scriptures, obediance, trust, and dependence on our Holy Father. Bless All who hear His Word! Peace | ||||||
