Greetings EdB! I would respectfully disagree my friend. Scripture can be taken out of context, ignored, or misunderstood at times. But, it is clear! On almost every example you cited, there are differing opinions, but I would argue that one side or the other ignores many Scriptures that do not agree with their view. It is not that Scripture is unclear. It is that we don't want to hear what it has to say. To say otherwise is to say that the words of Scripture have no meaning - that it can mean one thing to one person and another thing to another person. If this were the case, why have Scripture at all. Everyone could simply believe whatever they wanted. :-) I also mentioned that one of our problems is that we often go beyond what Scripture says. You used the example of when the 'perfect' has come. Scripture never identifies what the 'perfect' is, so we are speculating when we try to guess. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim I may have over simplified what I'm saying. Your right Scripture has one standard and one standard only. But who on this earth has all those points right? You? Me? The church of xyz? Who has 95 percent right? Or 80 percent? For 1500 years the church no matter what we want to think about it defined what was right and what was wrong and except of some political splits most everyone marched to that drum. Then Reformation occured and since then everyone has been left up to their own devices. Do you know any one denomination/church that you can say is 100 percent correct on all aspects of scripture? I sure don't, there are many I may think are close but even then that is based on what I think is 100 percent. And to be truthful the more I learn the more I find I don't know. so you tell me how does the average person find those nugget of truths, struggling through our pre set biases, prejudices, personalities and all the other factors that influence our decision process. Who among us has studied scripture to the point we know if a verse in Revelation is effected by a verse in Job? I know your argument and your 100 percent right there is only one way to get the truth of scripture. Now be so kind to tell me who has accomplished that in every aspect of scripture. EdB |

I would like to agree with the overall gist of your message however, I would have to say you didn't go back early enough. It seems to me that the church started to slowly decline and the planting of seeds of apostacy soon after the last Apostle died as Paul predicted. We saw in the Garden of Eden, in the condition of the world just before its destruction and in virtually every large collection (nation) of mankind since then, that we don't have it within ourselves to live up to God's Perfect Standard, as endorsed by His Word, Pr 14:12. Without God's or Jesus' physical presence in our lives, every day, every hour, we just can't adhere to God's Perfect Level of Godliness in our lives, so it was inevitable that the church would go defective as compared to Her Perfect Condition when the Apostles were guiding Her every move. But without that divine Guidance from the Holy Spirit, the church was certainly headed for the apostacy. I'm thinking God knew that all the time. He never meant for mankind or the church to have the benefit of His Son's physical presence in the world. He sent His Son for the primary purpose of saving the world from our sins by dying and manking the Perfect Sacrifice. But Christ's life also set the Perfect Standard for us to follow, mostly by studying His Words, His Deeds and imitating His life in general. That's where God's Grace and Mercy comes in. Where we ALL fail so miserably to make that mark or anywhere even close to that of our Lord, our God and Father covers us with His Love and Mercy. Only by the Grace of God, can any of us ever hope to make it to Heaven. Yes, I must agree there is no one group of people here on earth who have ALL of what it takes to make the perfect church, mainly because there's no one person who can even come close to Christ's standard of imitating God and His amazing Love and Compassion to an Infinite degree. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
