1 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | captarcan111@aol.com | 160510 | ||
Being a woman and very insecure with my looks (I have reason to be)I am not rich,actually I am poor and getting my hair,nails,tanning,etc;just lets me feel a little better.Does God and Jesus want us to look good for ever even in heaven. He's got all the natural stuff up there but I am on earth with bad weather and cold and I love the tanning look for my self.If Jesus and his dad feel this is wrong in their eye's tell me why? |

Being caught up with your looks is boasting in yourself. We were put on this earth to find every way possible to glorify God. Being concerned whether or not your hair is perfect or you have the perfect tan takes away from time you could spend praying and developing your relationship with God. Sure, I like to look nice, but I have to think, what what matters more? Having a humble heart and a strong relationship with God? Or perfect nails? Which one of those things helps your walk with God? |

Again, I don't know too much about this, but here are some comments. You are right that paying tons of attention to externals isn't right. I totally agree. Yet at the same time God decided to put Song of Solomon in the bible and it is a pretty amazing story of beauty, the bueaty of a man and woman. External and internal. Solomon wasn't a great role model all the time, but it does show God must have a heart for beauty. The psalms say God is beautiful. Flowers are beautiful, the sea is, trees are, spiderwebs with dew. Did God make flowers to glorify him? Yes! Are they beutiful? Yes. Are the flowers clothed better the people? Yes! I think their beauty glorifies him. I think people are beautiful to God too, no matter what they look like. Does the external beauty of a woman glorify God? I think it can when it is mixed with purity. Yet internal is more according to the Bible. God doesn't look at what man looks at it says to find a servant. Yet external is beautiful too. I really don't know, I haven't figured it out yet. Just some thoughts |
