Bible Question: homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God, but my son was raised in the Church and he said that he is of God and yet he a homosexual. My question is God love sinner and hate the sin right ? |
Bible Answer: Welcome Mr. C, I have just been reading through the post and seen that several members who have given you scripture to adequately support the Bible's view of homosexuality and sin. To answer the question if God loves the sinner, and He does (otherwise we would all be in trouble (Romans 3:23). How do we know that God loves the sinner, John 3:14-21 JN 3:14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; JN 3:15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. JN 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. JN 3:17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. JN 3:18 “ He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. JN 3:19 “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. JN 3:20 “ For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. JN 3:21 “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.” As we can see Jesus didn't come to condemn us, but save us. The 'fall of man' has already condemned us to death. RO 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Does your son have to give up homosexuality to get saved? No (everyone put down the stones). Yet, once your son is saved, he will start walking in the light and the old sinful nature will be washed away. He will be a new creature in Christ and his lifestyle must reflect this change. Let me give you an old example, but one that I like. You take a bath to get clean; you don't get clean and then take a bath. Currently your son is a slave to the sinful nature of man. He cannot change himself. How many people have you seen that have tried to make themselves a 'better' person but failed. The power to change from one's sinful nature is not something we have in use, but comes from the grace of the Almighty God through His son Jesus Christ and we are empowered by the working of the Holy Spirit in our life. Jesus never asked a sinner to clean-up their act before he offered to change them, but once He changed them, He told them to go and sin no more (John 8:11). God loves your son more than you do (which is hard concept to grasp). I've tried to figure out how God could love my own daughter more than I do yet when I remember how he sent His Son to die for my daughter the concept slowly sinks in. Thank God for His willingness to love me even when I was a sinner. Now I'm a blood bought child of God. Am I perfect? No and I still make mistakes, but I work hard with the help of the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-11) to try to walk in the light. To summarize the post, God loves us all and does hate the sin and the destruction that it brought upon His creation. You don't have to get 'cleaned up' to become a child of God, but once you start 'your bath' the old nature must go. Your son’s lifestyle of homosexuality is an abomination to God, but he still loves your son. Prayer for your son and yourself that the Holy Spirit will work in your son’s heart and give you the words of wisdom you need to guide him from the darkness into the light of Christ. Brad |
