Subject: Scriptural evidence? |
Bible Note: Doc You said, “My brothers, please do not think I am finding fault. I do not see myself as superior, for no doubt many who practice these doctrines are better men than I! Instead, I mourn at the absence of vital, scriptural spirituality.” Doc perhaps you should visit a Pentecostal church, because they are alive spiritually. I know in every Pentecostal church I have ever attended or visited most if not everyone cared their own well read copy of the Bible. I have visited many non Pentecostal churches and in some a Bible was no where to be found. I actually witnessed a Methodist do a complete service and never use or reference a word of Scripture. Does that ever happen in Pentecostal churches probably but in far fewer percentage of occurrences. I think if you ever visited a Pentecostal church you would find it was very close to a Baptist church in teaching, and belief with the exception that there would be a spiritual freedom that is not “usually” found in Baptist churches. Also there is happiness or joy almost a sense of celebration that is not “usually” found in Baptist churches. I say “usually” as I have three Baptist churches in my area two pastored by dear friends and one pastored by a very anointed man and in these three even this old Pentecostal boy feels at home. They are alive in Christ Jesus!!!! I visit all three whenever I have a chance and look forward to each visit. Of course I know of a Church of the Nazarene , “Episcopal”, and a “Greek Orthodox” church that are also very much alive spiritually. They too are pastored by my very dear friends. I put quotes around the Episcopal and Greek Orthodox churches because in both cases the pastor has been defrocked because of the Spiritual freedom in his church. Although the Greek Orthodox did issue a public apology and reinstatement of my friend. They decided he might be on to something. Praise God!!! EdB |
