Bible Question: Ok, my question is more about Church than the Bible: Why is it that the overwhelming majority of born again Christians come across as strange and brainwashed? This is not definately not always true and it is very refreshing and apprieciated when you meet a born-again Christian who comes across as a normal person. I think that many non-Christians in the world would without question consider converting if it wasn't for these slightly wierd people. I think that there are many people who are interested in learning more but get put off by these people. Sorry if I have offended anyone, can anyone help? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Henry1000! 2 Cor. 5:17 provides the simplest answer to your question: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" As Christians, we have are not the same as the world. John 15:19 - "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." We have a different Spirit leading us. Rom. 8:15 - "For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father.'" A 'normal' person is lost, controlled by a sin nature, headed for hell, selfish, and living in rebellion against God. Why would a Christian want to be 'normal'? :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
