Bible Question: Ok, my question is more about Church than the Bible: Why is it that the overwhelming majority of born again Christians come across as strange and brainwashed? This is not definately not always true and it is very refreshing and apprieciated when you meet a born-again Christian who comes across as a normal person. I think that many non-Christians in the world would without question consider converting if it wasn't for these slightly wierd people. I think that there are many people who are interested in learning more but get put off by these people. Sorry if I have offended anyone, can anyone help? |
Bible Answer: Perhaps because we are weird. 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a PECULIAR people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (emphasis mine) I think anyone that is dogmatic about anything is viewed as weird. We are conditioned by society "not to make waves", "go with the flow", "live and let live", "if it does no harm then it is okay" and etc. Then comes the Christians rowing the wrong way in the river and smiling about it. Our society wants us to be tolerant of everything, accepting of all to have not constant truth other than there is no constant truth. This flies in the face of Christianity and like oil and water they don't mix. Therefore rather than doing a self examination the world rubber stamps every Christian as 'crazy as a bed bug' and go off and try to enjoy their hurting lives. EdB |
