Bible Question: Ok, my question is more about Church than the Bible: Why is it that the overwhelming majority of born again Christians come across as strange and brainwashed? This is not definately not always true and it is very refreshing and apprieciated when you meet a born-again Christian who comes across as a normal person. I think that many non-Christians in the world would without question consider converting if it wasn't for these slightly wierd people. I think that there are many people who are interested in learning more but get put off by these people. Sorry if I have offended anyone, can anyone help? |
Bible Answer: Hi Henry, Those who are daily walking in the Spirit, produce the fruit of the Spirit, agape love (love that devotes itself to the object of that love). This love becomes their chief characturistic. Those who do not actually know the Lord Jesus, or who do not keep His word, will not have this love. We will see in those people the works of the flesh, and those works do not attract others to Jesus. In the parable of the tares, Jesus told us that the enemy would plant look-alikes, but that they would not be true. Our mission is to minister to everyone around us, believer, unbeliever, or unknown, and allow the Lord Jesus to give us understanding and guidance to how He wants us to do that. 1 John 2:5-10 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
