Subject: New Perspective of Sha'ul |
Bible Note: Dear TYMH, Using the phraseology of how it was originally said would be most effective in communicating with those who originally said it. Given that our hope to communicate with 21st century English speakers, for the edification of believers and the evangelism of the lost, perhaps the following is pertinent: "So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning, but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me. So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church." (1 Corinthians 14:9-12 ESV) Sister Azure expressed the same thought in post #192966. I'm happy to have you on the forum, son. I hope that these suggestions will only enhance your valued contribution to the SBF. In Him, Doc |
