Subject: Is belief in the bible needed to be save |
Bible Note: If I understand Hetfield correctly he is not picking and choosing what parts of the bible to believe or follow. He has declared many times in this thread that it is accurate. You quote 2 Timothy 3:16, however this is not evidence. If I write a letter and add the same sentence would you accept the letter as Gods Word? Of course not. Your quote on adding or taking away from the bible comes from Rev 22:18,19. 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book. First off we are not adding or taking away anything. Also it's clear that this statement refers only to this letter not the bible as a whole. "How can the bible not be the word of God which, leads us to Christ, tells us who He is, how we should live, what is the meaning to life, how great a love the father showed us through His Son, grace, mercy, peace, fellowship, prayer, repentance, faith, wisdom, understanding, and His sovereignty. We are told that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. You can't believe one and throw out the other." I don't disagree that the bible is all you say it is but it can still be that with out being the word of God. It is for me and it sounds like it is for Hetfield as well. Faith comes from evidence, anyone who trusts their eternal destiny on something without evidence is never truly sure. "If we did not have the word of God to look at and read how would we know how Christ lived, died for our sins, rose and was victorious over death, hell, and the grave. It is our instruction manual for living a holy life through Him." We would still have the bible for that, our instruction manual as you say, written by people who new Jesus, not by God. I hope this helps and thanks for responding. |
