Subject: Christmas-Is It Christian? |
Bible Note: Greetings AO! Thanks for the reply my friend! There is an important difference between Christmas and Cain's choice. Christmas is neither commanded nor forbidden in Scripture. Cain was told specifically what to sacrifice and disobeyed. The point I was trying to make is that something doesn't have to be specifically mentioned in the Bible to be God honoring. There is no command in Scripture that we should sing from hymnals, but I know of no one would argue that we should not on that basis. There is no mention of pews, or carpeting. There is no mention of leather bound Bibles. There is no mention of 3 or 2 piece suits. So, my point is simply this: If something is not specifically forbidden in Scripture, or violates a clear Scriptural principle, then I have no problem with it. There is no command in Scripture not to remember the day when Christ was born. There is no clear Scriptural principle that one should not celebrate the day Christ was born. Therefore, I have no problem with it. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
