Subject: Which Church is the right one? |
Bible Note: Hank What you described is what is being touted at church growth seminars around the country for the last twenty years or more. Pastors and leaders are paying high dollar (300 dollar plus) amounts to attend and learn how to sell their church. They use the same terms that are used in the corporate world, focus on programs, events, and vision. The only thing different in the corporate world a vision was called a goal or 5 year plan nearly everything else is the same. They talk about mission statements that we called marketing plans in the corporate world. They are told how to maximize their return by focusing on special groups. How to successfully sell the church to others by using the right words. Pastors are told not to look at themselves as pastors but rather CEO’s. By the way the seminars are packed with church leaders. But remember the success of a pastor is not based on how he taught and presented Christ but rather on how fast the church grew. His pay is based on number of people and how much money they give. The fastest way to grow a church is by being everything to everyone as much as you can. If people want a baby sitter then the church will baby-sit. If the people want entertainment then the church will entertain, if the people want programs then the church will offer programs, if people want the church to raise their kids then the church will have youth groups that will keep the kids away from their parents.
